i recently started shooting full 360x180 panos. i was surprised at how quickly i was able to get good results when making these, i have shot only five or six sets of photos in a couple locations so far and i've gotten three decent planet panos out of it. i would like to make great panos, though. :)
the first thing i have noticed is distortion. when comparing my panos to others online, mine seem to be much more distorted. i'm shooting with a 28mm focal length, and end up with 90 images + 1 nadir and 1 zenith. after stitching these together, i open the resulting image in gimp and resize to a square image (6000 x 6000 for example) and then apply a polar distortion. the result is a planet, but distortion is visible. any people in the shot look short and wide. the people in the photos are about 5-10 feet from the camera, it doesn't seem to matter if they are closer or further away. is this a result of the way i am taking photos or how i am stitching and distorting the pano? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hugin and other free panoramic software" group.
