No, bumblebee uses the nvidia binary driver. nvidia doesn't support hybrid graphics, but they at least support single card. So, bumblebee explain to the system how to use the card with this driver. There are a lot of people using CUDA through bumblebee, although some are facing problems with it

Ok I am a bit confused now. If NVIDIA does not provide a Linux driver is this _binary nvidia driver_ you mentioned written by the people at the bumblebee project ? More importantly will NVIDIA's CUDA SDK work well with this bumblebee driver on a hybrid NVIDA laptop card (I am thinking of the

Although the open source nouveau drivers are constantly improving, I think right now the only solution is to use bumblebee/ironhide, that internally uses the binary Nvidia drivers and CUDA SDK. On Tue, Dec 20, 2011 at 5:30 AM, Srimal Jayawardena wrote: > Thanks. > > Since NVIDIA does not have lin

Thanks. Since NVIDIA does not have linux drivers for Optimus cards, is it possible to do CUDA with the Generic / OpenSource drivers? Cheers Srimal. On Sat, Dec 17, 2011 at 4:16 AM, Albert Vilella wrote: > Find here the Ubuntu 10.10 installation instructions for cuda on > Linux:https://github.

If you want to play it safe, just get a laptop with a discrete graphics card and no onboard graphics. If you try to use Optimus with any CUDA based work, you'll have to do quite a bit of work on top of what you're already programming to get things to turn out well. :) I tend to think System 76 (
