Hi,
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delay, for some reason I never got
your reply by Cc or the linux-thinkpad list, but found it in the ibm-acpi-devel
web archive.

Hi,
I realize this is a corner case, I've only hit it a few times since I
typically do not use my ultrabay battery, but I can reproduce this with
multiple kernels (up to 2.6.28):
I boot the laptop with a DVD drive, work.
My main battery gets low, I hotswap the DVD out and put an ultrabay
battery

hinkpad_acpi: another device driver is already handling bay events
thinkpad_acpi: disabling subdriver bay
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Marc

I modified the source a bit to output the messages in there, and got:
thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.

Howdy,
I used to have ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.18-20071203 with 2.6.22.15, and
had a /proc/acpi/ibm/bay which worked fine.
After upgrading to 2.6.24 with v0.19-20080107, the bay file is gone:
