Re: GRS and Ficon CTC

2006-05-23 Thread Jim Wagner
There has been some discussion about a GRS ring on a Z9. This is necessary at times due to multiple sysplexes sharing DASD, such as our environment. We have a GRS ring containing 1 sysplex and 2 monoplexes. It has some quirks. If anyone desires some info on how to set up, please contact me off

Re: Z9 Benefits over MP3000

Big advantage, no more emulated IO. More availability to external devices (more CHP). The base MP3000 I worked with only had 2 ESCON CHPs. Being able to run supported operating systems. MP 3000 was a nice machine for a small development community, but 64 bit architecture has made the MP 3000 ob

CTC connections for SYSPLEX

Ed, I'll state my past experience. If you do not have a coupling facility, you could not have a CFRM policy. Hope this helps. -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] wit

Password expiration message?

2006-09-12 Thread Jim Wagner
John McKown asked a question about login password messages "What about people (we are few) who use "telnet", or "rlogin", or "ssh" to get into a UNIX shell? I don't recall it ever putting out this sort of message either." John, I do not remember seeing any response to this. If you did get an answ

Password expiration message?

John McKown asked a question "I can't remember if this happens or not. On TSO, when you logon and your password is about to expire, you get a message like: ICH70002I YOUR PASSWORD WILL EXPIRE IN 1 DAYS. Does the ftp server send out this message? Sorry, but I just don't remember. And I just chan
