We are planning to move our zSeries disk from our 2105-800 to an EMC DMX4
disk array later this year. Currently the 2105 is mirrored and that is what we
are probably going to do on the DMX. I believe the 2105 also stripes the
zSeries logical volumes across multiple little SCSI disks. The
explore some small volumes for spool, CDS files etc and other reserve
sensitive files
You really don't have to do that anymore (imo).
With faster DASD, channels, reserve to enq conversion, and PAV (to name a few),
the days of 'smaller' volumes are effectively over.
