How about C compilers to compile Hercules?

IBM has introduced specific iPhone/iPod touch support in Rational HATS
(Host Access Transformation Services), so that's one nice option. More

That'd be a universal approach -- the only client requirement is a Web
browser -- which has it
IBM could probably pay some 12-year-old $50 to write it between classes at
grammar school.
My nephew (he's 12) told me last week that he was upset that his Java
teacher didn't even know how to properly set up the IDE to write and debug.
I felt really old.

But developing 'em isn't free, and neither is support ... why should they do
it? (Not disagreeing that it would be nice -- I've gone through the same
exercise of trying to find one!)

I'm not sure about Android (being a WebOS person), but if you're
worried about the Terms of Service, Verizon dropped the price of the
Palm Pre/Pixi mobile hotspot to $0. Previously they charged for it.

There is a TN3270 Lite app for the iPhone. Coincidentally, someone was
just showing it to me earlier today.

John,
Android apps like the free "EasyTether Lite" can be used to tether
your laptop to the cell data network on most Android phones.
The app is basically a NAT router written in Java, and doesn't require
you to root the phone. The free version of the app blocks https:

John,
There are VPN client software for windows mobile based phones. There are
TN3270 and telnet clients for most phones windows mobile, blackberry,
iphone, android etc. There are also VNC/RDP clients for most of these
phones.
Though all these exist, its very hard to use from handheld devices.

Assuming you have no firewall issues...
Finding a 3270 emulator for Android will be the biggest problem. I've been
looking for one since I got an Android based phone without luck. The form
factor will be the next hurdle to get past. Granted, you won't be doing
heads down data entry, but it is c
OK, it's probably a stupid thought. But we are losing our laptop with the "air

there is wifi (assuming I take my own laptop around with me). So, with all
