Our Sysprog just installed C/C++ for VM and then decided to take two days
off. We are running z/VM 5.1 SP 0 and CMS 21 SP 0. When we try to compile
anything, even the simplest "Hello World" program, via "cxx -c //hello.c",
we get "DMSABE155T User abend 4093 called from 01E1B2F2 reason code
0000001C". From what we can determine, it seems to be complaining about
not being able to set up the heap. The virtual storage size for the
machine is 40M which would seem to be big enough for a four line
program. Anyway, this is no real big time issue and we can certainly wait
until our Sysprog is back, I was just wondering if this rang any bells with
anyone. It fails so fast it seems like something really basic is wrong,
perhaps with the environment. Thanks in advance. John. P.S. The only
install info the Sysprog mentioned to me was that he did not install the
compiler in a segment because the install doc said that was optional. I
wouldn't think that would cause this but who knows. Thanks again.
