Is there any rationale for this restriction?: "z/OS V1R10.0 MVS System Messages, Vol 8 (IEF-IGD)"
2.362 IEF692I ____________________________________________________________________________ IEF692I INVALID REFERENCE TO HIERARCHICAL FILE [text] Explanation: text is one of the following: * IN THE parameter FIELD * IN THE subparameter SUBPARAMETER OF THE parameter FIELD A JCL statement attempted to refer to a DD statement for an HFS file. Neither parameter nor subparameter will appear in the message if the incorrect reference was made using the DD DDNAME parameter. In this case, the message will be associated with the referenced DD (representing the HFS), rather than the referencing DD containing the DDNAME parameter.
