Hello Mike,
I've tried it a couple of years ago with MXG/SAS. I think that was quite easy
to do if I recall, but the problem I had was with time fields in SAS exceeding
24 hours (ie a job/stc that ran more than a day). SAS is ok with that, but it
converted those fields to a DB2 time column
(I couldn't resist)
Yes, it is feasible to load SMF data into a DB2 database. The simplest
method is to define a table with one column containing whole SMF record,
regardless of its type. And yes, such approach is completely unreasonable.
However any other approach means that you have to
Here's a clue: most people call him Barry.
Last but not least: I wonder if any human being is able to understand
and *remeber* all the SMF record formats.

No, but I generated a Cognos cube with SMF data. ?Fairly trivial task for
Cognos.

Does anyone try to load SMF records into a database (DB2) for
performance and capacity usage data mining? Just trying from keep from
re-typing all the DB2 definitions if somebody has already done it or
have any suggestions along that line. Thanks.
