XRC Primary Volume SWAP w/TDMF or FDRPAS

2006-10-18 Thread Donn Sachs
We are setting up a remote D/R site and will be using XRC to duplex the volumes to the remote site. This environment is up and running successfully now. Now we need to update our storage management procedures to fit into this new environment, and one of the procedures is how to copy/move volumes.

-- snip -- For Example; if a SWAP Source volume is also an XRC Primary volume, will TDMF/FDRPAS copy/move the volume? Or; if a SWAP Target volume is also an XRC Primary volume, will TDMF/FDRPAS copy/move the Source volume? . . Has anyone else addressed this issue? Anyone using FDRPAS/TDMF to move

FDRPAS issues a warning message if you swap from a duplexed volume to a non-duplexed volume, but it lets the swap continue. It currently only tests for PPRC but we plan to add a test for XRC. But it must be the responsibility of the customer to decide what to do about the situation. To pro

Given that situation, will FDRPAS allow the Swap to complete? And When complete the Swap Source has a new Vol=ser= label and the Swap Target has the Source Vol=ser label. With FDRPAS, the target disk must be offline when the swap starts. We will complete the swap, although we do warn that it m

At the end of the SWAP I'm assuming the MVS I/O is re-directed to the SWAP Target and it is brought Online. Correct At that point do we have two volumes with the same label? If we IPL then what do we see? As I said, we modify the label on the source volume so that it can't be brought onl
