I thought that sending this note to IBM-MAIN *might* reach at least some
software vendors (or even users of such vendors) with LE "related" products.

The appendix in the current LE for z/OS V1.7 manual related to 3rd party
products is so INCREDIBLY out-of-date, that I think that as many vendors as
possible should send in RCF's.

The problem section is visible online at:

  http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/ceea6160/A.0

in a section called:

"A.0 Appendix A. Language Environment-enabled vendor tools and application
packages"

That page includes the statement

"IBM is not responsible for other companies' products, and IBM cannot
confirm any claims regarding other companies' products. IBM IS PROVIDING THE
INFORMATION IN THIS APPENDIX ON AN "AS IS" BASIS, AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS
ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE USER OF THIS
INFORMATION AGREES THAT IBM WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES
WHATSOEVER OR FOR ANY OTHER CONSEQUENCES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS
INFORMATION."

What that doesn't state is that most of this information was provided in the
first half of the 90's !!! (and bares minimal relationship to today's
world).

If you don't know how to send IBM an RCF, see:

and/or send an email with your corrections (and a reference to what you are
correcting) to:

To give you an idea of how "current" the information is, just check out what
IBM says about its own products, e.g.

 - Doesn't know about CICS TS
 - Thinks that COBOL/SF is still an available IBM product
 - Thinks that "IMS/ESA" is current
