Hi Folks,
I decided to cut CBT Tape versions a bit more often. For the
previous few years, I've cut about 2 versions per year, relying on the
Updates page primarily, to get the new material and fixed material to
the people.
Even though it's a pain in the neck to do a release, it's
Yep! I always tried to be somewhat neat with my projects, but you never
know until someone else takes it over and says, "Hey, where's the macro
library?" or similar. Oops... that was under my personal
high-level-index, you know, the datasets you deleted 4 years ago :)

An interesting "reverse" variant of this. A long time ago I had a customer
negotiate a contract that said that if we went out of business that they would
get first refusal rights on hiring one particular developer of ours.

OK, you convinced me to go take it as well. :-) It wasn't quite that simple.
Q1. Are you using z/OSMF?
Q2. Can we contact you regarding your answer?

Same here. Instead of escrow or source code supplied to an end user, I
think it would be far better for folks to consider someone else to take

I don't believe the issues of IP rights in escrow have been fully litigated.
Escrow is an executory contract (in bankruptcy law terms). The whole point
of bankruptcy is to let you tear up past "mistakes" and start over. If I
were a creditor of a bankrupt software company I would argue that the IP

I am very negative on the benefits of escrow. Here's a mental exercise.
Scenario (1). You hire a new developer. You sit him or her down next to the
existing developers. You share all of the little tips and tricks with the new
person. You share source code libraries, JCL libraries, etc. How long

I seem to recall having a similar problem at one time. I learned from the
vendor that the batch terminal interface closes and reopens SYSPRINT. This is a
non-issue with SYSOUT datasets, but if the SYSPRINT is going to a data set,
only the display of the commands get captured. Solution: Instead
I agree, I've had to support Changeman at a previous site, and I was made to
administer part of the product also, the user community at Serena is mostly all
CHGM ADMINS that do nothing but administer the product and they, plus the
vendor are pretty good at helping out.
If you are an CHGM
I check the filesystems using the diff uss command
mount the new FS somewhere temporart like
/u/userid/tmp
then use the diff command to compare the dir and file structure write the
results to a compare.txt file
diff -r /u/userid/tmp /oldmount/ > /u/userid/compare.txt
that should give you

So the answer to q1 and q2 would be yes.

Lodz,
Hi, a colleague ported the C version of terse to Java a few years ago and
I still use it all the time for untersing files on my laptop. It was
bundled in my old svcdump.jar dump analyzer but not sure if that's still
available. This is how I use it:
java -cp ~/bin/svcdump.jar
Same here. Just ran SMPE RECEIVE ORDER just fine. Honestly, I wasn’t even
aware that SRD was even functional anymore. Havent used it in years.

Based on the relatively code path supported, it appears to be that the best
use of it to replace/simplify the more complicated PLO cases where there is a
lot of setup and the need for working storage. Don't know which will get
better performance.

We have a tight schedule for the move, do you recommend turning MACHMIG on or
