Hi Gil,
So what would be ideal is for me to rup chcp -q to find the platform's EBCDIC
codepage number, and ASCII codepage number, as is described in the example, in
that link.
It says I'll need to setup rlogin or telnet (to OMVS)... is there a simple way
of doing either of these?

Yup 😊
Irrespective of locale, HASP messages are always produced by z/OS as $HASP.. ?
And it's the codepage that helps it locale friendly by making one see it as
£HASP.. ?

Peter,
Thanks for pointing that out, I haven’t read the PTF.
I have concern for our customers.

Just sayin'. If Zowe was built on Java, I think it could be
successful. Remains to be seen if companies will pony up for node.js on
z/OS. At SHARE, node.js licensing was not discussed in any of the Zowe
sessions I went to.

And here I was complaining that NIST had it's own CA roots and
intermediates to import. Thank you for being paranoid.
Seems like everyone should be looking at PKI Services again instead of
purchasing certs.

We just downloaded new Receive Order certs from GeoTrust at IBM's direction. We
don't use a browser for this purpose, but the disruptive potential is
disturbing.

The accused is Symantec and its subsidiaries.
Seems relevant .. the whole purpose in using a CA is trust.
