Hi Mike:
Thanks for the answer
My question tried to clarify whether (or not) when a zCX Linux image uses DAT
and z/OS is running under z/VM, if it can be a TLB-hit or it always be a
TLB-miss because the so many levels of SIE-virtualization

Hi:
BTW, speaking of running zCX under z/OS under z/VM ...
Does anyone know whether (or not) the DAT translation is kept in the TLBs (CAM
memory)?
I don't know why, but I think there was a limit on the levels of
hardware-assisted DAT translation ...
I want to know whether running zCX on a
Hi List,
I'm looking for samples of PL/1 code for VSE with DBCS characters using
graphical and mixed DBCS strings and whatever that may be in use in Japan.
I'm also looking for the compiler options required to compile it on a z/VSE 6.1
environment.
Thank in advance.
Best Regards. Mauri.
Hi:
It was always difficult for me to find materials about SIE ...
A nice source of data I found was the Linux Kernel sources, because of KVM ...
It is nice to see for example how the instructions starting with a B2 opcode
are intercepted It is good to understand how the job is actually
Hi,
I wish I could FTP it compressed ... It could shorten a large FTP we execute

Thanks for the answer ... I understand it.

My understanding is that one a file was compressed with z/EDC is it is like a

Is the above is wrong, please correct me. If no, let's continue

Good morning list:
I assume (may be wrongly) that if a buffer pool is not defined for page fixing
on DB2, then DB2 issues a PGSER FIX before the I/O to the buffer.
My question is:
- Does DB2 use PGSER with BRANCH=Y or BRANCH=SPECIAL ? From my benchmark their
cost is different ...
- Or ... my
I think that LAPACK is the engine under the hood of popular LA commercial

mean, it adapts the matrix operations to the processor capabilities, like

Hi John:
My advise is to benchmark ... And it might be different on different machines.
So if 64-bit runs better in your current machine, don't through away your old
AR code, because it might be useful in your DR site or a new machine.
My advise is to benchmark because I found myself more

Nobody using 3390D?

Good morning list:
Does anybody use 3390D devices in his/her IODF?
I did not get answers to my original question and I puzzled whether (or not) it
is because nobody uses this option, or because other reason.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Mauri.
Good morning:
I'm considering whether (or not) to define our PPRC devices on SS 1 as 3390D
for a new shinny DS8870.
I also want to define the dynamic PAVs on SS 2.
Is there any experience you can share?
Gotchas?
Horror stories?
Things to consider?
Any problem with IBM products or ISVs?
The reasons why I bother are related to the simplification of some operational
procedures related to DR. It is a long and boring story and it will not add to
the discussion. But specifically - The 64K is far from being the limit ...
However if 3390D is not a nightmare, I prefer to implement the
Good day !!!
I'm looking on how to implement DB2 and its large page support.
One question ...
Suppose I allocate an LFAREA of 4.5 GB based on the fact that the fixed DB2
bufferpools use 4GB.
Then my DBA requests to dynamically ALTER the bufferpool to 5GB. What's happen
then?
