Not sure what you want to do with the output once it gets to the server but if it is just for online viewing, at a previous job, we used something called report2web (I don't know who the vendor was) that spooled reports out and allowed browser viewing of them.
Are you looking for strictly text type output or are you wanting to render AFP forms etc?
