Notions, yes; but *ad hominem* attacks, off-topic rantings, repeating what
others have said as if it's a new idea (typically days or weeks after the
question was asked AND answered) are all poor citizenship in a community,
which is what a mailing list is. If the list owner weren't largely AWOL, he
would have kept this list under control. As it stands, it's a
semi-free-fire zone, but that doesn't legitimize such postings. "Freedom of
speech" does not extend to shouting "Fire!" in a theatre, nor should it
extend to being obnoxious on a list for no reason. Doing so dilutes the
value of the list for all participants.

Having said that, the obvious caveat is, "Unless the list owner wants it
that way". I'd submit that Darren's involvement has been too sporadic to
make that assumption.
