redefined to have a 16 bit ASID and 48 bit virtual address in a 64 bit
address field. It would limit z/OS to 64K ASIDs of 256TiB address

Yes, once it mounts a volume, it will process other recalls from the
same volume.
Sorting by volume will help.
Submitting all recalls grouped by volumes will be a touch faster.
