I am out of the office until 03/09/2009.
I will be on vacation starting Wednesday, March 4 returning on Monday,
March 9. During that time, I will have limited access to both email and

Richard and Mark,
Thank you for your assistance. We have verified all of your
recommendations and re-defined the volume group per pvcreate, vgcreate,
and lvcreate. Once complete, the volume group is recognized and I is

I remember a couple HDA failures caused by the raised floor layout. The
cold air was venting up directly beneath the 3380's and was too cold. It
caused the grease in the bearings to thicken.

Two additional pieces of information that I forget to mention. After the
SUSE 9 guest is re-IPLed, the volume group can most of the time be

not work and we have issue a config command that will rebuild the

The EKM will reside on an Intel server. I am aware of the out of band
requirement. Thanks.
I never ran into that one, but I did experience tape failures due to the
raised floor. The year was 1963, the CPU a 7080, and the tape drives
were, IIRC, 726s. My memory if fuzzy on the last - they were the
predecessors of the 729s. One drive kept having I/O errors. The CE
checked it several times

Try tracing it. If either notrace or nosline was specified, you will not
be able to do it. If SLINE was allowed, trace should work.

Take a look in /var/log for old log files, they can typically be removed. Also /tmp is
a good candidate for removal of old files.

It was mentioned in a keynote - so I guess it is official
now. No dates for it that I know of, except I think Jim Elliot
said not this year in one of his presentations.

As you are removing/deleting things, and the space still shows 0%

I don't think there is currently a better way - no. I can't remember the

Funny you mention VMUTIL - when asked how to do the SET TIMEZONE

Lionel, not this year is the best you're going to get for now. Sorry.

There's Early Ship Programs. You could contact your IBM'ers and see if
there's any starting in the near or distant future that you could
participate in. That's usually a good way to get good stuff early :)

Probably not. That 0% only applies to non-root users, because of
Agreed -- move at least /var and /tmp to separate devices (and it's nice to
have /var in an lvm so you can grow it for very busy servers).

Looks like that's a no to sline.
Do any options exist for decompiling it? iirc it is/used to be tokenised
