Hi,
Looking to find some where on one of the performance toolkit screen
something that will show me the overall CPU utilization and Storage
utilization.
We are trying to determine if another IFL is needed or more real storage
on the box.
Thanks
Brian

Hi Stefan,
In response to your statement,
* the old file is read by a rexx procedure and only a subset of the
monitoring records are selected from
it building a new file (about 10% of the original size), this reduced
file is then send to z/OS by ftp for reporting.
I'd be interested in
.
But if all you need is summary data for capacity planning, PerfKit
can provide that information in its trend file, without the need to
collect raw monitor data on disk ...

We run the IBM performance toolkit product.
I understand that MONWRITE feeds Perf tool kit. Is there a way I can
write MONWRITE files to disk as well as let them feed Perf tool kit?
Why do you ask, I want to use MXG to report on zVm.

Is anyone using DSS to backup their VM system under zOS and have you
been successful in restoring and IPL'ing ?
Sample of the DSS backup statements were using,
DUMP TRACKS(0,0,3338,14) INDDNAME(DASD) OUTDDNAME(TAPE) ADMIN -
CPVOLUME CANCELERROR
or policies of Hewitt Associates.

Where would I find the initial or override settings for MITIME's?
I've looked in the SYSTEM config and on the AUTOLOG1 or 2 ids but I
don't see any SET commands.
e.g.

MITIME ON 2000-201F 00:40

Any user with sufficient privileges can change the MITIME. Check
OPERATORs PROFILE EXEC as well.

Hi,
Using racf under VM I would like to password protect a file so that if
you try to browse it or xedit the file you would be prompted to enter a
password.
Is it possible?
Thanks

password protect an individual
file?
What are you trying to do? Allow an exec to be executed, but hide the
code?

You're right. Raw data files are huge. One option is to make the
interval larger, but this also
