Hi
I am having trouble Kick Starting my RHEL 5.2 z/Linux guest. For some reason I cannot get the Kick Start INITRD or IMAGE to load from the my Jump server. I have been using the same INITRD and IMAGE for all of my RHEL 5.2 Kick Starts without any issues up to now. The only difference this time was that I created a new z/VM LPAR and I am building z/Linux guests for the first time on this LPAR. To this end I copied the RHEL 5.2 INITRD and IMAGE files from an existing LPAR (where it has worked fine) to the new z/Linux guests on the new LPAR. I packed the files and used IND$FILE to send them to my desk top and then used IND$FILE to receive them on the new z/Linux guests. I them UNPACKED the files. Now when it reads the PARMFILE to FTP the INITRD and IMAGE files from the Jump server they do not load. I receive the following. I don't know if the COPY messes something up or what? Any help would be appreciated! 15:12:19 INFO : only have one network device: eth0 15:12:19 INFO : dnsservers is 10.15.0.117 15:12:19 INFO : setting specified hostname of E48L002P.CMS.HHS.GOV 15:12:19 INFO : doing kickstart... setting it up 15:12:19 INFO : file location: ftp://10.15.0.107/SPACE/RHEL52/KICKSTART 15:12:19 INFO : transferring ftp://10.15.0.107//SPACE/RHEL52/KICKSTART to a f d 15:12:30 ERROR : failed to retrieve http://10.15.0.107///SPACE/RHEL52/KICKSTART <http://10.15.0.107/SPACE/RHEL52/KICKSTART> Here is what the PARMFILE and CONF look like: /* Configuration Information For Autoinstall RH52 */ /* Note: Verify HOSTNAME, IPADDR and DASD fields. */ /* */ HOSTNAME="E48L002D.CMS.HHS.GOV" DASD="700,800,801" NETTYPE="qeth" SUBCHANNELS="0.0.8300,0.0.8301,0.0.8302" PORTNAME=" " IPADDR="10.15.49.14" NETWORK="10.15.0.0" NETMASK="255.255.0.0" BROADCAST="10.15.0.255" GATEWAY="10.15.0.254" LAYER2="0" MACADDR=" " SEARCHDNS="cms.hhs.gov" DNS="10.15.0.117" MTU="1500" * * * End of File * * * root=/dev/ram0 ro ip=off ramdisk_size=40000 CMSDASD=191 CMSCONFFILE=RH52.CONF ks=ftp://lftp:pa55w...@10.15.0.107/SPACE/RHEL52/KICKSTART RUNKS=1 cmdline Here is the RH52 EXEC that I use to start the process: /* common exec */ 'close rdr' 'purge rdr all' 'spool punch * rdr' 'punch rh52 image * (noh' 'punch rh52 parmfile * (noh' 'punch rh52 initrd * (noh' 'change rdr all nokeep nohold' 'ipl 00c clear' Thank You, Terry Martin Lockheed Martin - Citic z/OS and z/VM Performance Tuning and Operating Systems Support Office - 443 348-2102 Cell - 443 632-4191
