It's great to see the VM Workshop is connecting some folks that haven't seen or heard from each other in a while. That's how this got started. It was a handful of people kicking around the idea over a couple drinks. (how else?) The idea to "re-launch" came up about 12 months ago and it took about 6 months to really get things rolling. We have a committee of about 30 people. While all have contributed, it's been the efforts of a small group of people and the support of the sponsors you see listed on the web site. There will be food (including a reception), giveaways, and the use of a great facility at OSU to kick things off. The Ohio Union is a great building that includes several restaurants and a bar. It should be a fun place to do something like the workshop and every cent we take in from the sponsors and your registration fees goes into the event. As David mentioned in another note, it's the best deal around. It's not about someone making a buck off education. It's about people with a passion for VM getting together to share information about the platform and Linux. There will also be some pretty important announcements; or so I'm told. There are already a lot of new names registered for the event. People relatively new to the platform. I'd love to see as many of the old timers (geezers) show up as possible for a couple of important reasons: 1.) information exchange / skills transfer 2.) heritage and the passing along of the "family" history. It should be fun to not only kick around what's going on with the platform and Linux today, but to also have some fun dragging out some of the history behind it. You might also consider attending just to "defend" your honor when we get into some of that history. :-) Anyway, I hope you all get a chance to make it to Columbus. We all have a lot going on these days and this might be just the break you need. Len "The Itinerant Preacher"
