OK guys, thanks to your help, I finally sent off the paperwork to
register Flygill fra Vesturbaer, my 16 yo gelding. Thanks especially to
the person who suggested that my difficulty in getting the parentage
confirmation was due to the fact that his sire was registered as a
gelding. This turned out to be the key for the whole thing. I finally
talked to the programmer at the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory, who
said, "Oh, that's a bug. I'll have it fixed by this afternoon." Then
there was a small difficulty in getting the sire's blood work converted
to DNA (I don't own the sire). But at last, after 3 years of gathering
the right signatures and paying for a late stallion report (just 16
years late!) I THINK I'm all set. I mailed it all by registered mail,
since I know I'll never be able to gather the signatures again, and I
did keep copies. If something happens to me, I want Flea valued at his
true worth. The postal worker asked the value of the letter, and I said,
"Actually it has no intrinsic value, but it's priceless".
