i think its good to teach a horse all commands from the ground first
before you ever get in a saddle. nasi was less than a year old when
he learned "whoa". He would stop and wait so sweet and then I would
kiss and off we'd go. then he learned to flip me off

pretty quick, but Monday we moved enough stuff to sleep here and now
