daniel and i have mostly separate financial lives, so i don't even ask him about saddle purchases. (i am hanging on to my sensation dressage for now b/c i think it fits him well, though.)
but when i was having my taxes done i discovered that since people pay me for teaching, saddles i buy are tax-deductible. this is vaguely insane, since there's no way in hell this "business" is ever likely to turn a profit, but the tax man assured me that if i *didn't* report it like that i was going to end up in tax hell for unreported income. so that's a pleasant side-effect. --vicka
