Hi Nancy - Wanda I have seen horses break ice in troughs and drinking holes. We have an automatic waterer that has a ball - it sometimes gets slightly frozen and the horses knock it with their foot. Some of them take their foot and hold the ball down and to the side so they don't have to push it
