The LG G2 <http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2> was always destined to have a difficult time thanks to sibling rivalry with the very similar Nexus 5 <http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5>, which was released shortly after the G2. Unsurprisingly, many consumers opted to wait for the Nexus-branded device over over the G2, despite the latter’s slightly better specifications. Despite this, many have chosen the G2, and it has amassed a loyal fanbase and development community. One such G2 user, XDA Recognized Developer dr87<http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=5232783>, recently received a few requests for help from others in the community regarding the process of updating their custom ROMs to make full use of the 4.4.2 Android sources. In response, he posted some useful information that should help other developers avoid the issues associated with moving to a full 4.4.2 device/kernel/vendor tree. Dr87 provides links to an updated device tree that incorporates some RIL fixes, a vendor tree that is stripped of unnecessary files and containing only the required blobs for the hardware in question, and he points to a clean kernel branch that incorporates various fixes required for some of the audio-related bugs associated with 4.4.2 on the device. There are also some other miscellaneous files and commits to merge when updating.
