The IESG has approved the following documents: - 'Protocol Independent Multicast - Sparse Mode (PIM-SM): Protocol Specification (Revised) ' <draft-ietf-pim-sm-v2-new-12.txt> as a Proposed Standard - 'PIM Sparse-Mode IETF Proposed Standard Requirements Analysis ' <draft-ietf-pim-proposed-req-02.txt> as an Informational RFC
These documents are products of the Protocol Independent Multicast Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Alex Zinin and Bill Fenner. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-pim-sm-v2-new-12.txt Technical Summary This document specifies Protocol Independent Multicast - Sparse Mode (PIM-SM). PIM-SM is a multicast routing protocol that can use the underlying unicast routing information base or a separate multicast-capable routing information base. It builds unidirectional shared trees rooted at a Rendezvous Point (RP) per group, and optionally creates shortest-path trees per source. Working Group Summary The WG had concensus on progressing this specification. Protocol Quality Alex Zinin reviewed this specification for the IESG. There exist multiple interoperable implementations of the specification. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list IETF-Announce@ietf.org https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ietf-announce
