Just tried it again but still no good. Here is the log in case
anybody can make heads or tails. I with C#/Mono/.NET gave better error
messages.

Used fc7 on vmware.
Weird. I am using a completely fresh install of FC7 and it doesn't work.
I wonder what could be different.
Maybe I will try to install from the sources and see what happens.
