Ubuntu is a distro based on debian. so mostly it will work fine with Debian
too

When downloaded test had only read permission. chmoded to give it execute

That's too vague.. IMHO such a simple C++ app mustn't break unless the
C++ ABI has changed within the 4.0 to 4.3 gcc versions. And googling a
bit, I find they do change quite a bit!

Sajith's machine is 32bit debian.. So the issue is not with 64bit. So
Differences in Libraries and architecture . Dont you guys think so ?
BTW If you develop on Debian Stable it will work on any recent system eh ?
