use wireshark and see what is getting downloaded.
go to capture menu and click start menu. or go to Capture>Interfaces >
select ur network device(mine is eth0) and click start button.
if u want to run it in promiscuous mode u need to run with root privileges.

No it doesn't solve the problem.Unless there is a browser open it doesn't
report anything and the system is still downloading something.
