games. now the grub is lost.
i don't want to reinstall ubuntu again.

follow these steps.
1. boot using Ubuntu live cd.
2. open terminal and enter 'sudo -i' (without quotes)
3. # mkdir /media/root
4. # mount /dev/sda* /media/root (where sda* is you ubuntu root directory.
You can use fdisk -l ti get the correct partition.My guess is you installed
root and boot in

sdb means you have two hdd.Right? if so select the one which you configured
as the first boot device of these 2 devices. I think it is normally sda.
DO NOT ENTER sdb6 or anything. only sda or sdb.

grub and grub 2 are different. Ubuntu 10.04 uses grub 2 and it is the latest
version.
