Hi All I am Joseph John, I am a open source user and promoter. My experience in promoting open source has taught me that best was to promote Open Source is to meet the users requirement. Any organization will need to manage Documents, why not full fill it with Open Source. In that way let Organizations understand the benift of open source. When I started evaluating document management, I have evaluated KTDMS,Nuxeo,Alfresco from the Open Source Arena, All of them are good and was able to meet my evaluation points, But I have to select one of this to gain the expertise, so I selected Alfresco.
Did a self exploration of the software, tried to meet the business requirement, following were the BR (a) Incoming fax from the HylaFax, should be stamped with the received time and date and copied to the DM and notification send to the fax-controller with the received FAX url. Through the DM , the FAX controller will see whether the fax is relevant, if relevant he approves or else reject, if approved, DM sends email notification to XYZ dept based on the need.I XYZ dept needs to start a work-flow based discussion they can do it using work-flow (b) From MS$ machines, users should drag and drop to the DM folders (c) From MS$ email client or any email client, users should drag and drop the email to the DM (d) Version, Tag, role based access, group permission (e) They should be able to create custom Document Types I have done all the above, and I would like to share my knowledge to others. I want to conduct worksop on Document Management, my intention in conducting the workshop is to make a noive person confident in installing, configuring, and administration of Alfresco DM I will be in Kerala on December last week and Jan 1'st week, 23'rd I am coming to TVM, hope we could arrange the workshop on 23'rd , Prerequisite for the attendees is that, they need to bring their own laptop with 64 bit version on any Linux flavor. There will be no fees, nor do I expect any return from this initiative. Just sharing my experience, with clear documentation and explanation on how I was able to meet the BR.
