boot with ubuntu live CD.
open terminal.
type
sudo fdisk -l
and find your ubuntu partition. some thing like sda1, sda2 or sda and some
number.
assuming yours is sda1, if not replace sda1 in following steps with
corresponding.
then type
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/
then try to install grub by
sudo

Thanks for the reply. I did try that already but didnt work. There seems to
be some bug with Ubuntu 10.04. Wish someone could guide me with install of
GAG. It will amend the index.
