see if another printer with name lbp3000-2 spawns up. If so, then this
instance has to be removed and cups etc restarted; I came across this when I
searched ubuntu forums - the solution mentioned worked for me.
Incidently, I did not face this problem on PCLinuxOS! (my printer is
LBP2900B)

shows "a later version is already installed"..i lost all my hope configuring
and printing from my machine,so i thought to browse a printer from a windows
machine, Now its show "cups-insecure-filter" warning :(

The issue is solved.
In Fedora 12, follow the instructions that come along with drivers and
install 'gutenprint-cups'. It works fine.
