Mine is 17 monitor you mentioned that yours is 15 . So I thought that
will create problem for you.
Funny, how things work out in linux. Couple of weeks ago I plugged my
harddisk to one of my friend's computer having entirely different
system, but windows doesn't even load.
Any idea how that happens? Just curious to know...thats all.
I think Windows doesn't notice about the h/w change (else would have loaded
generic drivers) and loads set of drivers which was compatible with your H/w
which caused the crash in your friends.

hello stranger in black... i tried your instructions.. but the
resolution did not increase.. the max resolution being displayed was
still 800*600.

in ubuntu. but i got one created while following stranger in black's

Sorry.. i forgot to mention my graphics conf.. I am using an intel
original mobo with intel g33 chipset. i only have the integrated
graphics on my mobo and no graphics card...

I'm also using karmic. I know there is no xorg.conf by default. But if there
is one, it will be used. You might have noticed that I created a thread a
week ago, asking help to fix my screen resolution problem I fixed it by
creating a new xorg.conf file.
