Hi All, I am going to conduct a free wrkshop and training for Open Source Document Management and Portal solution in Kochi on Sunday 13'th. I have not fixed the venue and time. This workshop is recommended for Share point proffesionals and solution providers, interested candidates can contact me back. Please do see the workshop details below ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My workshop:- My April workshop targeted audience are people who are working in share point, any document management, or any portal solution. It can even include people who are looking for document management or portal solution, prefer not to have people who do not have an idea about what is Document Management or Portal solutions. This is because we are more focusing on installing, configuration rather than explaining what is DM and portal solution. My workshop aim is to make the participant confident in giving out this technology as solution to their clients. Candidates are expected to bring in their own laptop with any 64 bit Linux OS or Windows OS installed. It is not mandatory, but 100% advised to bring in thier laptop to get part in the installation and configuration. The participants will be installing, configure, trouble shoot the installation problems and for portal they will installing eclipse IDE with life-ray development environment, will be creating sample port-lets, theme, layout. Publishing it the server (Programming experience is not mandatory) DM and portal installation and configuration will be explained on Linux OS, I may not be able to support or solve any windows based installation and configuration issues. I will try but wont spend much time trouble shooting in windows environment during workshop. There will be volunteers to help windows users also Some times prior to the workshop participant will ask us that since they do not have Linux installed in their laptop, and they would like to have Linux installed in their laptop, for such requested participants we ask them to come one hour earlier, so the volunteers can help them with installation, and explain some basic commands to follow the workshop. ie this participant will be prepared/trained to follow the workshop without any problem. This I found very encouragement for them to try out using Linux without fear Workshop participant can be from 20-25 no The topics which will be covered are (a) Installation and configuration for Alfresco as DM (b)Installation and configuration for Liferay, Programming environment for LR (a) Installation and configuration for Alfresco as DM --------- First Part------------- * what is Document Management, features, different DM solutions in properitary/open source * Explanation of Garnter report on DM, and Alfresco position * Installation pre-requistive * Installation (Participants will be doing it) following the instructors step on projector * Configuration files * Log files, trouble shooting steps * Using MySQL or anyother DB, what to do, explanation of JDBC driver file and its location ----------- After Break ------ * Concepts of site * Creation of user, group * Permissions and role explained * Document check in check out, version * MetaData explained, different types of document check in and observing thier meta data * WorkFlow explained * How to get community help, How to ask help, How to appreciate help (b) Installation and configuration for Liferay, Programming environment for LR ------------------ First Part ------------------------------ --------------- * What is portal solution? * Explanation of Garnter report on Portal, and Liferay position * Installation per-requestive * Installation (Participants will be doing it) following the instructors step on projector * Configuration files * Log files, trouble shooting steps * Control Panel * Creation of Organization, Sub organization, users, group * Creation of site * Port-lets add /remove customizing the pages-----------------------After Break ---------------------------------------- * Development environment * Where to get SDK, src and binary files * Explaining how to download liferay IDE plug-ins * Installing eclipse IDE and configuring it for the development * Creation of portlets, layout and theme * Deploying of created portlets, layout and theme * Importance of Log files * How to get community help, How to ask help, How to appreciate. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- -- "Freedom is the only law".
