Fedora Core4 or Ubuntu 5.04, it generates the GUI with the message as
Scanning For CD Devices shown in the splash Screen For the geneartion
of GUI mode then it hangs there .No further screen is shown even i
have waited

I need to transfer files between two PCs one running cygwin and other
windows+putty.
I have installed sshd on the PC running cygwin
I need whats the ip address /hostname one should type in Putty for
connecting to another PC.
I do not have static or rather the dedicated ips. How to know

IMHO you need pscp if you want to transfer files.
putty will just give you a secure shell.
to know the ip of a windoze pc click on start--run--type cmd
when a doze session comes up type ipconfig
if you're lucky, the ip address of you're machine should show up. note it down
quickly before
You need to use PSCP on the Windows+Putty system instead of Putty there.
