Hi Subhashish,

You can use OpenOffice.org for working with Microsoft specific
documents, you can open it to edit and save the documents (Though it
may not be able to provide as many features as MS Office has got, but
to 90% it complies with MS Office for basic working), or you can even
install a Wine Emulator which emulates Windows on Linux, So with this
software Opening up a MS Office is not a big task.

To Migrate from Outlook to Thunderbird (this works in Mozilla too)
1)
Install and configure Thunderbird normally
2)
Launch Thunderbird email
3)
Select Tools/Import then select Address Book then select Outlook and
wait for Finish
4)
Select Tools/Import then select Mail then select Outlook and wait for Finish
5)
Exit Thunderbird
6)
Used Windows Explorer to select and move all of the mail files/folders
(that were imported) up one
directory level above the "Outlook" folder they were placed in. These
files/folders can be found in the
directory shown as the Local Directory for Local Mail
(Tools/AccountSettings/LocalFolders). If you have
followed our conventions this should be c:\data\email.
7)
After moving all files/folders, delete the now empty "Outlook" folder
8)
Launch Thunderbird and verify folder content etc.
9)
Cut and paste the migrated the individual address books into the
Personal Address Book and deleted the
individually migrated address books
