-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi,
I recently decided to colour up my console. I started with the prompt and googled a bit and came out with a list of colours. But, the problem is that with this prompt (ie. "\e[1;[EMAIL PROTECTED];36m\h \e[1;31m\w\e[0;32m$ "), bash takes the width to be only 45 char. The whole thing is something like this: 1) I set the prompt: $ PS1="\e[1;[EMAIL PROTECTED];36m\h \e[1;31m\w\e[0;32m\$ " [EMAIL PROTECTED] directory$ 2) I type something that is more than 45 char long or enter a dir whose name is more than [expr 45 - `echo $USER | wc -m` - 1 - `echo $HOST | wc -m` - 3 ], and it continues the 46th char at the beggining of the same line. eg. if my hostname is host, username is user and dirname is /some/stupid/directory/located/somewhere, then it should display (if the width is the usual 80): [EMAIL PROTECTED] /some/stupid/directory/located/somewhere$ But, on mine it displays: where$ st /some/stupid/directory/located/some 3) Then I type someting, eg. gnome-terminal: where$ gnome-terminald/directory/located/some Any solutions for this? - -- Regards, Arjun Asthana [EMAIL PROTECTED] Linux: Choose your freedom __________________________ Whether weary or unweary, O man, do not rest, Do not cease your single-handed struggle.
