You need to tell us much more than that, what error does
windows display? Did you check the samba logs? Do they report any errors?
What registry patch did you apply? Does it look like
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters]

One sure shot way is to use Samba v 3. Samba 3 provides all the features
which Xp expects out of a CIFS server, So no reegistry key changes, no
dirty work. But that does'nt mean that samba 2(point) releases cannot
serve windows XP clients. One would need to see what is really

Try using password encrypted. All the NT based system do not work with
clear text passwd parameter
