Ubuntu install on G3

So how come my iMac DV running Jag won't boot from a live Ubuntu cd? Or even be seen as a volume? No other issues at all, but I am curious to try Ubuntu on the thing---my ultimate goal perhaps to get a more modern wireless card working with it intead of an Airport card.

Hi All... Anyone know what the impedance is for the audio input jack on my iMac (Intel early 2008)? I have an older piece of equipment whose audio output normally drives a 4K ohm magnetic headphone. Audio quality isn't a big issue... the output is just occasional spikes with some low level
