I erred and bought a copy of Leopard online from a vendor who didn't
understand the difference between the black retail and grey machine
specific OS disks. It's Leopard 10.5.2. Disk 1 has part (?) number
2Z691-6204-A, copyrighted 2008, with AHT version 3A131. Disk 2 has
part number 2Z691-6195-A.
Well it finally happened to me.
Yesterday I was running firefox when the page just got stuck. No mouse
movement no keyboard input.
I turned off with the power button let it rest a minute or two then turned
it back on. All that happens is the ambient light sensor lamp glows and then
the fans run at

Those are notorious for having bad capacitors, from what I've heard
here on the LEM lists.

I would guess the software; a lot of those third party USB wireless
things have pretty terrible software for the Mac. You might check to
see if they have updated drivers online, that would be compatible
specifically with 10.4.

my thanks to all of you who helped me with my aunt's imac. we found
out it was indeed the power supply and were very lucky to find a used
working one locally. the machine is up and running and my aunt is very
happy.
