If the file copied fine to your Windows PC, then the file in itself is fine.
Regarding the flash drive, could it be that it's formatted as FAT ("MS-DOS
(FAT)" in Disk Utility) and the file is bigger than 4GB? That would explain
this last problem.
FAT formatted disk cannot handle files bigger than 4 GB. Formatting the
flash drive as exFAT should resolve this issue.
