You do not need XPostFacto. You need the correct Firmware upgrade and then a
clean install. I have successfully done tis to iMac G3 400MHz and Panther plus
iMac G4 600MHz and Tiger. I don't like Tiger on a G3 iMac. It works but slower
than I would like. Panther seems faster for the G3 iMac but
And to add a note, The 10.3.x installer lists a Tray Loader as one of
the supported systems along with the explanantion that you need to
install the system on the first 8GB of the HDD.
XPostFacto is not needed for a Tray Loader to install 10.3, but it is
needed for 10.4

Correct me if I´m wrong, but I think there is an easy rule of thumb:

Here is the breakdown for using XPostFacto:
Use it to install Panther and up on Macs without USB ports and
Use it to install Tiger on a Mac without FireWire (one of the slot-
loaders without firewire is an exception though)
I pulled the drive from my 333NHz tray loader and put it in my
I know that there is something that I need to download before
attempting to install OS 10.3 on a slot loading G3 Imac. But I don't
have the link, can anyone help? Thanks

That's true; I've installed Panther 10.3.9 on my slot-loading G3 iMac
and my G3 iBook, without XPostFacto4... but I think you need that to
install Tiger
