I teach at a small church run school and just acquired some G3 iMacs
(500 mhz, 128mb, 20gb, cd-rw, OS 10.3.9). The pram batteries need
replacing. How do I open the iMacs to get to the battery? Also how
do I access the hard drive and will the hard drive from a beige G3
fit?

Yes the G3 iMacs used IDE HDs. I don't think they started using SATA
until the G5's or Intel iMacs, so you should be OK. (All IDE HD's are
interchangeable, for the most part)
Also it should be easy to upgrade to a DVD drive, my younger brother
has an older one that we upgraded to have a DVD
