The limiting factor is not the number of
accounts, but the number of incoming and outgoing messages… Just to
give you an idea, my busiest server has just shy of 60,000 accounts and
processes over 1 million messages a day. This is running on the latest
hardware from intel on a RAID 0+1..

You mentioned a firewall. Are you by chance using a PIX?
Search the archives and KB for fixup protocol.
The log you included should have had a line above that indicated the user
authenticated. If there is no line, the user is not attempting to
authenticate, or that is not reaching the server.

server I won't get support from Ipswitch directly and my Webhoster isn't
very interested to solve this problem. Do you have any idea how to
obtain that Ipswitch will do that?

occured while attempting to configure the LiveUpdate service. The
service could not be configured." and then installation finished. When I
start LiveUpdate after that, it hangs.

user.lst file and not the user.txt file. The manual says the "list listname"
should return the user.txt file but it doesn't.
