We use it here and it works just fine. I have seen false positives but only
on servers/services that I don't host within my location. Great product for
the price and the support is *very* good! IMO, its worth a test drive.

I am just starting to try
Nagios out, and although I
like the price too,
saying the configuration isn't
easy is a bit of an
understatement. What
is it, about 14 configuration
files for the server itself?
But a

I'll throw in a vote for Nagios. http://www.nagios.org/
Not the easiest to configure by any stretch of the imagination.
But it works very well, a
I use DeepMetrix IP Monitor for all of my servers.

It works well. It's not that cheap, but affordable.
I'm curious about other software, so this is a good thread. I have been
happy with it and don't plan to change, but it pays to be informed.

We use BigBrother, http://www.bb4.net, If you are using it for non
comercial purposes (i.e. you aren't charging for your monitoring
service, or monitoring a customers server), it is free to use, They do
have a comercial licence and also a new Professional version that are
fairly pricey. It is a li

Kami,
We use Servers Alive and it works great for us. It is not as feature rich
as WhatsUp but for just making sure that a server is responding (which is
all we need it for) it's been great for us. We've been using it for over a
year with no complaints or problems. Of course, YMMV...
HTH,
Bruce
We use it, and for the price it's pretty good, but it does give false
positives once in a while.
