I have an IMAP server (2007k, 2007.398) running on a rather old
hardware. I see that delivering new messages with tmail to mix
mailboxes with 4+ messages can take several seconds (about 5-6s).
Delivering to a small mailbox takes about 0.1- 0.3 on that hardware.

Yes, we have seen the same problem here. We thought that converting to
mix boxes would have helped the situation considerably. We used to use
mbx format. However, much to our surprise, we still see very heavy IO
when delivering messages with tmail to large mix
Yes, I am aware of a performance problem when adding a message to a large
mailbox. The entire index and status file is always rewritten.

and with imap-2007a.DEV.SNAP-0802160141, I've noticed
some inconsistency with POP connections. Some clients
(Eudora on MAC and Thunderbird on windows for sure, probably others)

Does this problem affect the released 2007 version as well? I have some
reports about pop problems but mainly from people using Google Gmail to
check pop from our servers.
Just curious if it might be related.
