I have a user that is trying to send to the domain fronitier.net. On their
end (fronitier.net )they have a postfix box accepting connections. Our
server is Exchange 5.5 box W2k server. Our log files complains of the
following:

********

The following message could not be delivered to
<'[EMAIL PROTECTED]'>. The destination server reported: 501 Bad
address syntax. See http://postmaster.frontiernet.net
<http://postmaster.frontiernet.net/> From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] >
Subject:

********

Can someone shed some light on what exactly 501 bad address syntax is? I do
realize MS doesn't like to follow the rules in reference to Exchange SMTP
engines so with that in mind what is exactly breaking?

On their website (fronitier.net ) comments as follows:

* Improperly formatted recipient email addresses will be blocked.

* Error message: 504 <address>: Recipient address rejected: need
fully-qualified address
* Error message: 501 Bad address syntax
* Solution: Check the recipient (To:) email address.
