Hi John,
In the meantime, I think this /etc/profile hack might be nice to include
in the Getting Started Guide (could be a nice start to a new section on
shells). Instructions for accessing the source for the guide and

Joerg is referring to the fact that ksh93 and bourne shell have some
minor incompatibilities. It is possible to write a script that will
work differently in the two shells. Academics have even written some
scripts to demonstrate these incompatibilities really exist.

Good idea but unfortunately the bios does not have an option for
disabling the built-in network interface and the installation does not
get far enough to give me a shell to type commands.

I am trying to install Indiana Preview 2 onto a spare desktop PC. The
desktop is a Shuttle SS51G with this motherboard:
http://eu.shuttle.com/archive/en/fs51.htm#mainboardfs5
Something very similar to this hardware is listed in the HCL at
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/data/systems/details/1
I still think it's a wee misleading, one assumes that he/she already has the 75
version.

yes, but it can be confusing - you are upgrading to b79 but should install the
b75 SUNWipkg - I simply thought the procedure was prepared for b75 upgrades...

The image update went OK.
But seems there is some message problem for pkg command:
-bash-3.2# pkg status -u
pkg: no packages installed
doesn't sound right...

There is actually a comment on the upgrading page about that already.
It notes the important of specifying the version of the package when
installing it.

OK I thought that was for previous release and was trying to be a smart ass :-)
Maybe the step can be a little specific and say use the SUNWipkg that matches
the CURRENT NV version ( 0.75 fro build 75 )
Let's see how the image update goes

Hello All-
I recently installed Developer Preview 2, and was pleasantly surprised when a

I tested the previous 'test release' of Preview 2 and Evolution failed to fully
